Prescription Pattern of Oral Antidiabetic Medications in Type II Diabetes Mellitus Patients with Heart Failure: A Retrospective Observational Study

This retrospective observational study aims to evaluate the prescribing patterns of oral antidiabetic medications among patients diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Heart Failure. The study will be conducted over a six-month period using data from inpatients recorded between January 2019 and August 2025, sourced from the Medical Records Department. The primary objective is to assess the utilization of different therapeutic classes of oral antidiabetics (e.g., Metformin, DPP-4 inhibitors, SGLT2 inhibitors, Sulfonylureas) in T2DM patients with Heart Failure and to analyze demographic and clinical factors influencing prescription trends. Data will be collected using a structured data collection form, and ethical clearance will be obtained prior to study commencement. Statistical analysis will involve descriptive methods using SPSS version 29.0. The study aims to identify adherence to evidence-based guidelines and uncover any inconsistencies in real-world prescribing practices.
