Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •1\.Age of patients greater than 12 years with localized alopecia areata over scalp.
- •2\.Presence of five or fewer patches of alopecia areata, involving less than 50% scalp area
Exclusion Criteria
- •1\.Patients who have received topical or oral treatment for alopecia areata in the past 1 month.
- •2\.Alopecia areata over areas other than scalp.
- •3\.Presence of ophiasis, diffuse alopecia areata, alopecia totalis and alopecia universalis patients.
- •4\.Other coexisting hair disorder diagnosed based on clinical history and examination (trichotillomania, androgenetic alopecia, telogen effluvium, tinea capitis)
- •5\.Pregnancy
- •6\.Presence of any contraindication or allergy for topical corticosteroids or topical methotrexate.
- •7\.Patient having steroid induced side effects like atrophy, telangiectasia etc.
- •8\.Patients who are not willing to participate.
