Inclusion Criteria

  • Premature infants admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit
  • Weight under 1500 grams
  • Age under 31 weeks

Exclusion Criteria

  • Infants with congenital heart defects, congenital major abnormalities or chromosomal abnormalities
  • Infants whose mothers have a history of using nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs during pregnancy
  • Infants with hydrops fetalis
  • Infants with Apgar scores greater than 5 at five minutes after birth
  • Infants with symptomatic PDA require treatment with ibuprofen
  • Infants have vomiting or hematems in the first three days of birth
  • Infants with high levels of liver enzymes
