Efficacy of single-session focused extracorporeal shockwave therapy in patients with moderate-degree carpal tunnel syndrome versus steroid injection therapy A single-blind randomized controlled trial
- Conditions
- Patients with electrophysiological evidence of moderate-degree carpal tunnel syndromeCarpal tunnel syndrome, Focused extracorporeal shockwave therapy, Steroid injection
- Registration Number
- TCTR20240704004
- Lead Sponsor
- Faculty of Medicine, Srinakharinwirot University
- Brief Summary
There was no significant difference in overall efficacy between focused extracorporeal shockwave therapy and steroid injections for moderate carpal tunnel syndrome. However, single-session fESWT demonstrated greater pain improvement at the 12th week compared to steroid injections, suggesting it may be a preferable option for patients concerned about steroid side effects.

[4] 3) The patient is 18 years old and over. And 4) A new patient who has not been treated with a steroid injection or other treatments, such as ultrasound therapy.
