Inclusion Criteria

Participants (aged 18-65 years) with clinically diagnosed post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) + borderline personality disorder (BPD) as defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, DSM-5, who are able to consent and are scheduled for trauma-focused psychotherapy in an inpatient setting.

Exclusion Criteria

- Presence of a schizophrenic disorder
- severe affective disorder
- Substance dependence
- Brain-organic impairment
- Neurological disorder
- Minor aptitude
- Poor command of the German language
- Acute suicidal tendencies
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Lack of informed consent

Primary Outcome Measures

The feasibility and acceptance of the treatment are assessed on the basis of the length of stay and tolerance of the treatment as well as the feedback questionnaires on the VR experience. Completion of trauma-focused psychotherapy is defined as participation in all exposure sessions. Participants' reactions to the proposed trauma therapy and specific reasons for refusal are documented and evaluated.
