简要总结
More than 80 % of the patients experience pre-operative anxiety which adversely affects the overall comfort and well-being of the patient . The consequent release of catecholamines brings about various physiological and psychological changes such as tachycardia, hypertension , increased sensitivity to pain and ultimately increasing the amount of anaesthetic agents required. This also has a negative impact on post operative recovery of the patient. It has been observed that patients with higher pre-operative anxiety tend to experience more post-operative pain, have delayed wound healing, fluid – electrolyte imbalance and increased risk of infection. Virtual reality is a simulated 3D environment that enables the user to explore and interact with a virtual surrounding in a way that approximates reality as if perceived through the user’s senses. It is proposed that this immersive technology can work as a tool to distract patient’s attention away from the concerns regarding the upcoming surgery. Hence, in this study, we aim to evaluate the role of VR technology in mitigating the pre- operative anxiety and stress levels , hemodynamic parameters and patient satisfaction in patients undergoing surgery under general anaesthesia ..

- •Patients aged 18-40 years posted for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
- •ASA physical status classification I and II.
排除标准
- •Patient refusal to participate in the study.
- •Having visual or auditory abnormalities.
- •H/o claustrophobia.
- •Chronic alcohol or substance addiction.
- •Motion sickness or vertigo.
- •H/o seizures.
- •Known case of adrenal insufficiency.
- •Cerebrovascular disease.
- •Previous history of any surgery.

时间窗: Just before and after intervention
次要结局
- Serum cortisol levels(just before the intervention and after the intervention .)
- The Bispectral Index value and the corresponding Minimum Alveolar Concentration value(every 15-minute interval intra-operatively.)
- Post-operative pain will be assessed by using Visual analogue scale (VAS) score(every 2 hourly, for the next 24 hours)
- Hemodynamic parameters like heart rate, blood pressure and peripheral oxygen saturation(just before and after the VR box intervention and every 15 minutes intra-operatively.)
