**Aim**
Till date only a little known about the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Parent-child Relationship among higher secondary school students.
The study findings will help to gain foundational insight into the emotional intelligence and their relationship with parents, and the findings would help to manage healthy parent child relationship and improve self-management skills.
**Objectives** 1. To assess the level of emotional intelligence among higher secondary school students as measured by Emotional Intelligence Inventory Scale. 2. To assess the parent child relationship among higher secondary school students as measured by parent child relationship scale. 3. To find the relationship between emotional intelligence and parent child relationship among higher secondary school students. 4. To find the association between emotional intelligence and parent child relationship with selected demographic variables. **Justification for the study**
India has the largest young population in all over the world. Total 1.2 billion adolescents age 10 to19 years, more than 16 per cent of the World’s population. Emotion have effect on different aspects of life including behavior and during decisions. Emotional intelligence starts from birth with mother later growing interaction people in his surrounding like parents, friends, siblings and teachers which will influence the development of child’s emotional intelligence. Ability of individuals deal with emotions and feelings which play a role in shaping and directing personality and behavior to manage his emotions in a healthy and constructive manner. The parent child relationship is the major responsible factor for child development. Good Parent-child relationship and emotional intelligence influence child’s personality and have a better self-esteem, emotional security and grow up in a useful member of the society.
