Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • \-Adult (≥ 18 years old)
  • \-Present with features of TN, based on current guidelines of the Headache Classification Committee of the International Headache Society (IHS)

Exclusion Criteria

  • \-Patients with painful trigeminal neuropathy (e.g. due to the growth of organic lesions or tumors)
  • \-Acute infectious disease within the previous three weeks
  • \-Past or present neurological, psychiatric, metabolic, cardiovascular, muscular, or chronic inflammatory disease
  • \-Smoking habits or alcohol consumption of more than 40 g/day
  • \-Medical conditions that required treatment with glucocorticoids, analgesics, or antidepressant drugs
  • \-Pregnancy or current breastfeeding.
