Children with acute pancreatitis admitted in hospital. Control subjects are age and sex matched normal children
Children with chronic pancreatitis, liver disorders, Cholestasis, short bowel syndrome, Small bowel mucosal diseases, Celiac disease, Inflammatory bowel disease, Surgical intervention on the gastrointestinal tract, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome will be excluded. Children who are on nutritional supplementation, who have had any major illness over the last 3 months, Recent diarrhoea within a month, Febrile illness or NSAID usage a month prior to illness will also be excluded.

Name Time Method 1.To determine whether children (aged 8-15y) with acute pancreatitis have reduced fat digestibility in comparison to control childrenTimepoint: 13C mixed chain triglyceride meal will be administered in both cases and controls and breath samples will be collected and analyzed over a period of 6 hours. <br/ ><br>Follow up study will be done after 1 month of illness in cases. <br/ ><br>
