Bronchial asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting millions globally, with a significant burden in India. Despite standard treatments like steroids and bronchodilators, patients often experience chronic stress and reduced quality of life. Yoga, pranayama, and meditation have shown potential in improving pulmonary function, reducing stress, and enhancing respiratory muscle strength.
This study aims to assess the combined impact of structured yoga therapy and breathing exercises alongside standard pharmacotherapy in mild to moderate asthma patients. Three randomized groups will be evaluated for pulmonary function, inflammatory biomarkers, and quality of life over 12 weeks.
The study introduces a novel, structured protocol tailored for asthma patients, developed by MDNIY and validated by JIPMER, targeting a South Indian population. The expected outcomes include improved pulmonary function, better asthma control, enhanced quality of life, and reduced inflammation, establishing yoga and breathing exercises as valuable adjunct therapies for asthma management.

- •Mild to moderate severity of bronchial asthma patients of either gender of age group 20-60 years on standard care, visiting Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research pulmonology OPD for treatment will be included in this study.
排除标准
- •Severe asthma patients.
- •Patients already practicing yoga, breathing exercises or regular physical activity Patients with uncontrolled hypertension with drugs.
- •Patients with diabetes mellitus.
- •Pregnant females.
- •Subjects with endocrine disorders.
- •Subjects with severe obesity.
