Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Presence of at least one tooth either on bilateral or ipsilateral sides of the mouth with persistent probing depth (PD) \>\= 5mm; moderate to severe periodontitis has a minimum probing pocket depth of 5 mm according to AAP.
  • Radiographic evidence of intrabony defects either on bilateral or ipsilateral sides of the mouth with depth \>\= 3mm: as regeneration or grafting procedures can be done with a minimum bone depth of 3 mm.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Pregnancy or lactating women: Dental procedures are contraindicated as it may affect their posture and also is time taking procedure.
  • Chronic smokers: as they attribute to high risk for generating less favourable clinical outcomes after any periodontal surgery.
  • Patients with uncontrolled systemic diseases: uncontrolled bleeding is noted and wound healing does not occur easily in uncontrolled diabetic patients.
