简要总结

  • The Foot Posture Index is a validated tool that has been used to classify foot posture into supinated, pronated and neutral, in various sports particularly those involving high plantar pressures and mechanical loading such as runners, triathletes, futsal and volleyball players. Variations in foot posture have been seen in athletes according to the sport and its intensity.
  • Pelvic tilt angle is the angle formed by the line passing through the ASIS & PSIS and the horizontal line through the sagittal plane. Normal values were found to be approximately 9 degree for males and 12 degrees for females. Anterior pelvic tilt has been linked to predisposition of injury in hamstrings due to kinetic chain involvement in lower extremity.
  • Majority sports particularly those that require sprinting and jumping exert enormous stress on the foot that several times the weight of the athlete. These forces may result in musculoskeletal changes and changes in alignment of lower extremity in athletes playing competitive sports. Thus it suggests that athletes participating in high impact sports have increased risk of developing pronated foot which can results in further change in pelvic inclination.
  • There is dearth of literature on different foot postures and the association with pelvic girdle alignment  in track and field athletes and hence more search needs to be done.
