Inclusion Criteria

1. Patients treated in the period between 01.07.2007 and 30.6.2013 in the respective hospitals who are >=18 yrs and received intravenous thrombolysis because of MCA occlusion and
2. in center A additionally intraarterial intervention, in center B additionally sonothrombolysis.

Exclusion Criteria

Patients with missing information about duration and type of sonothrombolysis

Primary Outcome Measures

Comparison of patients in both centers regarding early NIH improvement (delta NIH-SS and absolute NIH-SS at 24 h) and degree of disability (modified Rankin Scale, Barthel Index) at hospital discharge and at discharge from the rehabilitation clinic.

Comparison of both therapeutic strategies regarding:<br>- Effect of clinical factors (age, sex, vascular risk factors, blood glucose etc.) on clinical outcome<br>- rate of symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage<br>- other adverse events (angioedema, complications during angiography) for both therapeutic strategies<br>- size of infarction<br>- number of patients with early recanalization<br>
