Inclusion criteria for ADS Group
1. Male Persons with a diagnosis of alcohol dependence syndrome according to ICD 10, seeking treatment from outpatient services of the Department of Addiction &Medicine
2. Individuals between 21 and 50 years of age.
3. Married for at least 1 year &staying with the spouse.
4. Willing to give consent to participate in the study.
Exclusion criteria for ADS group
Persons with ADS who had acute intoxication or were in an acute withdrawal state will be excluded from the study
1. Co-morbid psychiatric disorders,
2. Major medical illness and neurological illness which can cause sexual dysfunction
3. Multiple substance abuse/dependence other than alcohol.
4. Clinically elicited history of primary sexual
5. Using any medication by the participants which could improve/decrease the desire or the level of sexual functioning
Inclusion Criteria (healthy control group)
1. Subjects (those not dependent on any substance except tobacco) age between 21 to 50 years
3. Married for at least 1 year &staying with the spouse
4. Willing to give consent to participate in the study will be included.
Exclusion criteria (healthy control group)
1. Major mental illness or physical illness
2. History of psychotropic medication use
3. Participants regularly using any medication which could improve/decrease the desire or the level of sexual functioning will be also excluded from the study
4. Respondents scoring more than 19 in the K10 scale will be excluded

Name Time Method The study will highlight the detrimental effects of alcohol on sexual function, marital adjustment and quality of life and this information can be utilized for appropriate psycho-social intervention.Timepoint: 12 months
