Inclusion Criterias: age of fifteen or more, hospitalization in CSICU for two days or more, complete consciousness, no use of psychiatric medications, no use of hypnotics or opioids five to six hours before nighttime sleep, and no affliction by class III or IV heart failure, known sleep disorders, and hearing or visual problems.
Exclusion criterias: were reluctance to stay in the study, need for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or the intake of sedatives, hypnotics, anesthetics, or amphetamines during the study.
