| Dental plaque is associated with the most prevalent oral diseases like dental caries and periodontal diseases. The removal of plaque is a determining component in the prevention of these diseases. The use of mechanical agents is a simple and cost effective method that has been demonstrated to be effective in control of gingivitis. Most of the individuals do not practice an acceptable standard of mechanical plaque removal due lack of dexterity in performing oral hygiene methods.Green tea, Camellia Sinensis from the family of Thea Cease is mostly cultivated in coasts of Caspian sea in North of Iran. Its remedial effects are associated with the polyphenol contents comprising catechin, epicatechin, gallocatechin, epigallocatechin, epicatechin gallate, and epigallocatechin gallate. Green tea consumption was found to lower the incidence of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity. Green tea is made solely with the leaves of C. sinensis that have undergone minimal oxidation during processing and hence it has more antioxidant and antibacterial properties. Studies have shown that green tea polyphenols inhibit the growth of oral and periodontopathic bacteria thereby preventing dental caries, halitosis, gingivitis, and periodontitis. |
The beneficial effects of the natural products along with the lowerprevalence of side effects could enhance patient compliance and long-termusage. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of the green tea intreatment of gingivitis

- •Patients with minimum of 20 teeth.
- •Patients who have not taken periodontal treatment in past 6months.
排除标准
- •Pregnancy and lactating women Patients on antibiotic therapy from past 1 month Smokers Patients allergic to chlorhexidine, aloevera, triphala.
