1.All consecutive patients in the age group of >1 month to up-to 12 years who are newly admitted to the PICU with non-traumatic coma; and
2.All patients in the age group of >1 month to up-to 12 years who develop non-traumatic coma during their stay in the PICU.
Non-traumatic coma will be defined as Glasgow coma scale (GCS) below 12 for more than 6 hours duration (in a patient without history of trauma).
Patients whose parent/ guardian refuses to give informed consent. Also, patients who develop coma after refractory shock or after cardiac arrest or after hypoxic insult in the PICU will be excluded from the study.
