Inclusion Criteria
The inclusion criteria are: (a) the individual should be a confirmed diabetic with no serious co-morbidities; (b) he/she should be able to use mobile phones and communicate in local language Kannada or in English; (c) he/she should agree to provide a consent to participate in the study.
Exclusion Criteria
Individuals with critical illness and who doesnâ??t have mobile phone access were excluded from the study.

Name Time Method Primary aim of this study is to determine whether intervention through a mobile SMS or phone call or both, helps in the effective management of diabetes, thereby reduce the complications associated with diabetes in a rural setting of Mysuru district, Karnataka, India.Timepoint: HbA1c investigations conducted once in 3-4 months for the study period of 1 year aids in determining the impact of health education on disease management.
