Teeth requiring endodontic treatment on asymptomatic permanent mandibular molar teeth diagnosed as vital using pulp sensitivity tests were selected for the study from the regular pool of patients. The procedure was explained to the patient in his/her own language, and a written informed consent was obtained.
Patients who were pregnant, taking antibiotics or corticosteroids at the time of treatment, with immunocompromised, complicating systemic disease or below 18 years of age were excluded.
