Subjects were between the ages of 30 and 70 years old, could be treated with shock waves, had agreed to the treatment, had had a stroke at least three months prior to the study, and showed a Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS) score of the ankle exceeding one.
The exclusion criteria were as follow: history of surgical procedure in the lower extremity, ankle contracture or severe inflammatory arthritic diseases, history of local injection of botulinum toxin, phenol, or alcohol in the past three months.
