All eligible newborns for KMC with weight at the time of enrollment below 2000 grams admitted in NICU or step down neonatal ward will be enrolled in the study provided they are expected to stay for minimum 5 days after enrollment. The eligibility criteria for KMC are â?? low birth weight newborns who are physiologically stable and whose mothers are willing to give KMC.
1) Newborns with congenital anomalies, 2) Newborns with history of birthtrauma, 3) Newborns whose mothers are physically unfit due to any medical illness and 4) Twins
