adult patients, age 19.2 ± 2.8 years) who attended Orthodontic Clinic were selected on the following inclusion criteria : (1) bilateral maxillary dental expansion between 1.5 mm and 4 mm required, (2) hypo- or normo-divergent facial pattern (15°<SN-GoMe< 35º) that would allow for an increase in lower facial height by creating clockwise rotation of mandible, (3) neither unilateral nor posterior crossbite presented, (4) healthy periodontal condition with no pocket formation or gingival recession, (5) no craniofacial disorders, (6) no underlying disease and no signs and symptoms of TMDs.
Failure of bond bracket, use of non-steriodal anti-inflammatory drugs during expansion
