Inclusion Criteria

• Visit of a GP's practice with planned personal contact with the GP
• Sufficient knowledge of the German language
• Written and verbal consent to participate in the study

Exclusion Criteria

• Patient not capable of giving consent
• Already diagnosed disease associated with severe cognitive impairment (e.g. dementia)
• Patient does not have sufficient knowledge of the German language

Investigation of the criterion validity of the new questionnaire for the assessment of depression symptoms in general practices (DESY): Examination the diagnostic accuracy of the new questionnaire using SCID interviews as reference standard.<br>2. Comparison of the performance (diagnostic accuracy) of the PHQ-9 with the DESY.<br>3. Investigation of the factorial validity of the DESY.

1. Examination of the convergent validity with the PHQ-9. <br>2. Investigation of the comorbidities of depression: anxiety disorders, somatoform disorders, and PTSD.<br>3. Examination of the distribution of GP diagnoses according to the International Classification of Primary Care 2 (ICPC-2) of the patients.<br>4. Comparison of the GP diagnosis with the reason for the encounter given by the patients.
