This study showed the addition of a HILT to conventional conservative treatment is an effective and noninvasive treatment method for minimal, mild, and moderate CTS in terms of clinical outcomes for numbness, pain, and electrophysiologic parameters.

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • 1\. Study participants were adults (age greater than or equal 20 years); 2\. presented with hand pain or numbness and underwent electrodiagnosis, and the result was minimal, mild, or moderate CTS levels based on the modified neurophysiologic grading system

Exclusion Criteria

  • 1\) contraindication to laser such as undergoing cancer treatment, had radiation therapy during the past six month, and the patient had bleeding from the arm to the finger; 2\) underlying disease that may cause the experimental measurements were disturbed such as polyneuropathy, cervical radiculopathy, brachial plexopathy, ulnar neuropathy, radial neuropathy, rheumatoid arthritis; 3\) received conservative treatment within 6 months such as physical modality, orthosis and intracarpal tunnel steroid injection; 4\) History of carpal tunnel release; 5\) Numeric rating score of pain greater than or eqaul 8
