STUDYDESIGN: A cross sectional study.

OBJECTIVEOF THE STUDY: The proposed studyshall develop normative scores, validity and reliability of MDRT in children

NEED OFTHE STUDY:

•     MDRT is a clinical instrument which lacks normativereference values for children

•     MDRT can be used to measure balance in differentdirections.

•     Validity and Reliability of MDRT has not beenestablished.

•      This studywill help in exploring normal ranges of reach along with critical value toenable identifying children at risk of fall at their early stages ofdevelopment.

CLINICALSIGNIFICANCE: As this clinical toolhas been proven to beadvantageous in the evaluation of balance for elderly, child can easily bescreened for balance impairment using this test. This test can easily beadministered at any setting where sophisticated or highly technical instrumentscannot be used.

STUDYSETTING**:** Subjectswill be taken from geographical area in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi andUttar Pradesh.

STUDYLOCATION**:** Schools

STUDY DURATION: Study will be undertaken fortwo years

SAMPLE SIZE: Calculatedusing following formula

SAMPLING TECHNIQUE**:** Cluster sampling

SUBJECTS SELECTIONCRITERIA:

Inclusion criteria

1.      Childrenwith TD

2.      Co-operativechildren

3.      Functionallyindependent children

4.      Agedbetween 5to 17 years

 Exclusion criteria

1.      Childrenwith visual impairment

2.      Childrenwith vestibular impairment

3.      Childrenwith  hyper-mobility or hypo-mobility

4.      Childrenwith history of upper or lower limb soft tissue injuries (<1year).

5.      Childrenwith flat foot, supinated or pronated foot or other foot deformities

6.      Childrenwith limb length discrepancy

7.      Childrenwith psycho-social disorder

8.      Childrenwith neurological disorders

9.      Childrenwith cognitive impairment

10.  Othermedical condition

 **CONCEPT:**MDRT

OPERATION: Balanceassessment

MATERIALS USED FOR ASSESSMENT:

•      Threeadjustable wooden stands

•      2Rulers (each 60 cm in length)

•      Measuringtape

•      CalibratedWeighing Machine

•      Othernecessary stationary

OUTCOMEMEASURE: Distance in cm

  • 1.Children with Typical Development 2.Co-operative children 3.Functionally independent children 4.Aged between 5to 17 years.

排除标准

  • 1.Children with visual impairment 2.Children with vestibular impairment 3.Children with hyper-mobility or hypo- mobility 4.Children with history of upper or lower limb soft tissue injuries (<1year).
  • 5.Children with flat foot, supinated or pronated foot or other foot deformities 6.Children with limb length discrepancy 7.Children with psycho-social disorder 8.Children with neurological disorders 9.Children with cognitive impairment 10.Other medical condition.
