Inclusion Criteria

Adult patients (aged between 18 & 65 y) of either sex and ASA PS I to III undergoing emergency laparotomy for proven or clinically suspected peritonitis under general anaesthesia will be recruited in this study.

Exclusion Criteria

I.Patientsâ?? refusal

II.History of any previous neck surgery or trauma

III.Pregnancy

IV.American Society of Anaesthesiologists physical status III- V

V.History of peripheral arterial diseases/ atherosclerosis

VI.BMI > 30kg/m2

VII.Any cardiac rhythm other than sinus

VIII.Cardiomyopathy

IX.Hemodynamically unstable patients/ patients requiring inotropic and/ or vasopressors.
