Inclusion Criteria

Patients with an acute sigmoid diverticulitis stage IIb (CT-morphological)
-Age above 18
-Clinically and mentally stable allowing them to be part of a clinical study
-Signed written consent

Exclusion Criteria

-Underlying chronic inflammatory bowel disease
-Acute psychiatric illness
-No written consent
-Already taken part in another study
-Immunosuppressive agents
