A study to assess the effectivness of planned teaching on knowledge regarding early identification and prevention of non substance addictive behaviours among parents of adolescents.

Non-substance addictive behaviours such as excessive use of mobile phones, internet, gaming, and social media are increasingly seen among adolescents and can negatively affect their physical, psychological, social, and academic well-being. Parents play a vital role in the early identification and prevention of these behaviours; however, lack of adequate knowledge may delay timely intervention.The present study aims to assess the effectiveness of a planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding early identification and prevention of non-substance addictive behaviours among parents of adolescents.A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test research design will be adopted for the study. The sample will consist of parents of adolescents selected using a suitable sampling technique. Data will be collected using a structured knowledge questionnaire administered before and after the planned teaching programme. The planned teaching programme will include information on types of non-substance addictive behaviours, early warning signs, risk factors, preventive measures, and the role of parents.The effectiveness of the planned teaching programme will be evaluated by comparing pre-test and post-test knowledge scores. Data will be analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study findings are expected to show an improvement in the knowledge level of parents after the teaching programme. The study will help in enhancing parental awareness and promoting early identification and prevention of non-substance addictive behaviours among adolescents.
