• Patients scheduled for TKA under general anesthesia
• Patients older than 18 years
• Written informed consent
• Preoperative dynamometer measurements possible
• Emergency surgery
• BMI >40
• ASA 4-5 status
• severe COPD (GOLD criteria = IV)
• Preexisting lesions of lumbosacral plexus of the ipsilateral side.
• Patients, unable to give their consent (need for bystanders)
• Preexisting, relevant coagulopathy
• Preexisting allergy of local anesthetics (amid type)
• infections of the catheter insertion site)
• patients unable to communicate in german language
• patients scheduled for spinal anesthesia
