Exclusion Criteria

-Age > 14 years

-Patients with airway trauma

-Patients intubated for vocal cord paralysis or upper airway obstruction

-Patients receiving mechanical ventilation via a tracheostomy tube

-Patients not extubated

-Patients with C-spine injury

Primary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
The predictive value of ultrasound guided laryngeal air column width ratio to diagnose post-extubation stridor in childrenTimepoint: 1. Immediately following intubation

2. Prior to start of steroid therapy

3. Before extubation
Secondary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
1.The predictive value of ultrasound guided laryngeal air column width difference to diagnose post-extubation stridor in children

2.Effect of steroid therapy on ultrasound guided laryngeal air column width difference and ratio

3.To evaluate the accuracy of cuff leak test (CLT) in predicting post-extubation stridor in children

4.To compare the predictive value of LACWD and LACWR with the CLT for diagnosing post-extubation stridor in children

Timepoint: Laryngeal air column width (LACW) will be measured initially on the day of receiving the patient in TICU, immediately following intubation. Following this, the measurements will be taken prior to start of steroid therapy and before extubation. Cuff leak test will also be measured prior to start of steroid therapy and before extubation.
