Maternal age of 18 - 45 years at the time of consent.
Gestation week: second trimester (13-28 weeks).
Women with singleton pregnancy.
Pregnant women with moderate iron deficiency anaemia with a range of 7-9.9g/dL and non-anaemic pregnant women with an Hb value >=11g/dL.
Pregnant women with the ability to provide written informed consent.
Pregnant women already on routine medication prescribed by the treating physician 1.Folic acid 0.5mg + FeSo4 333mg (100 mg of elemental iron) OD and Vitamin B-Complex tablet (Vitamin B1: 2mg, Vitamin B2: 2 mg, Vitamin B6: 0.5mg, Niacinamide 25mg, Calcium Pantothenate 1mg) OD in the morning. 2. Calcium 300 mg OD in the noon.
Pregnant women with chronic diseases (hepatic, kidney, thyroid disease, chronic infections, leukemia and other blood disorders).
Patient with reported depression in the past.
History of use of anti â?? depressants.
Drugs that can cause anaemia.
History of high risk pregnancy including abruption placenta, placenta previa and gestational diabetes.
Family history of haemoglobinopathies.
History of autoimmune diseases.
History of pregnancy induced hypertension.
