Inclusion Criteria

patients treated >1 year ago in our clinic (non-surgical periodontal therapy) who after at least 2 dental hygiene maintenance visits have at least 2 residual periodontal pockets of 5-7mm depth

Exclusion Criteria

pregnancy/lactation, antibiotic therapy of any kind over the past 6 months, purulent exudate in any pockets, cigarette consumption of greater than 20 per day and any autoimmune deficiencies
