This proposed study aims to investigate the effects of an 8-week cool water immersion bath intervention on metabolic changes in overweight individuals. In a randomized controlled trial, 60 participants aged 18-25 with a BMI between 25.0 and 29.9 kg/m² will be allocated to either an intervention group or a control group. The intervention group will undergo a whole-body cool immersion bath (70-80°F) for 20 minutes on alternate days, while the control group receives no intervention. Before and after the study period, both groups will be assessed on primary outcomes including BMI, anthropometric measurements, blood pressure, and blood glucose levels, as well as secondary outcomes of body composition. The research hypothesizes that regular cool water immersion will activate thermogenic processes, leading to significant improvements in metabolic health markers compared to the control group, thereby providing evidence for hydrotherapy as a simple, non-pharmacological approach to managing overweight conditions.

  • BMI should lie between 25.0 to 29.9 kg/m2 2) Participants should be willing to engage in an 8-week intervention program.

排除标准

  • Subjects with any other co-morbidity 2) Subjects on any medication at the time of study 3) Doing regular workouts, exercise and yoga 4) Subjects involved in substance abuse like alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs and other related substances 5) Subjects with mental illness.
