Patients undergoing femoral fracture repair
Patients with age 50 years to 80 years
ASA grade I-III patients
Patients able to use to Patient Controlled Analgesia(PCA) pump
Patient refusal to participate in study
Patients with any other fracture
Patients suffering from concurrent comorbidities (cardiovascular, cerebrovascular,
liver or renal)
ASA IV - V patients
Patients with known hypersensitivity to local anaesthetics
Patients with bleeding disorders or on anticoagulants
Patients with sepsis
Patients with cognitive impairment
Patients with absolute / relative contra-indications for spinal anaesthesia

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Primary outcome defined for the study is Quality of recovery QoR-15.Timepoint: Preoperative, postoperative 24 hours and 48 hours
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Secondary outcomes for the study are: Time taken to administer the block, <br/ ><br>Postoperative VAS score on movement and rest, number of patients requiring <br/ ><br>additional analgesia, total 24 hour opioid consumption, WHO disability <br/ ><br>assessment schedule, modified frailty score, prevalence of delirium, mortality, <br/ ><br>morbidity, total hospital stay and side effects of techniques, if any.Timepoint: VAS score both on rest and movement will be noted at T 0 , T 1 (after 4 hour),T 2 (8 hour),T 3 (12 hour),T 4 (24 hour),T 5 (48 hour) and T 6 (72 hour). <br/ ><br>Postoperative delirium will also be assessed on postoperative day 0,1,2 and 7 <br/ ><br>Postoperative morbidity <br/ ><br>survey will be measured postoperatively on postoperative day 1 till time of discharge. <br/ ><br>On 30 th day, patient will again be assessed for any disability, frailty, morbidity and mortality.
