brackets- a split-mouth randomised clinical trial.

Aim: To evaluate the distal movement and external apical root resorption of maxillary canines bonded with a combination of zinc oxide-tin oxide nanoparticle-coated and non-coated ceramic brackets.

Sample size:!3 patients

Split mouth study

Group 1- 13 quadrants- zinc oxide-tin oxide nanoparticle coated brackets

Group 2- 13 quadrants- non-coated ceramic brackets

Methodology: The horizontal distance is to be calculated between the pre-retraction and post-retraction values.

The rate of canine retraction is to be calculated by dividing the amount of canine retraction by the time taken for the retraction.

External apical root resorption is evaluated with pre and post-CBCTs.

入选标准

  • Subjects requiring individual canine retraction during fixed orthodontic treatment, Patients with a full complement of healthy non- carious permanent teeth, canines and first premolars nearly in good alignment, a treatment plan for extraction of maxillary first premolars.

排除标准

  • Debonding of brackets from canines or anchorage teeth, removal of retracting coil springs during treatment, irregular followâ€up visits of patients and patients with asymmetrical arches were excluded from the study.
  • Subjects with congenital enamel defects or hypoplasia of partially erupted teeth, physically or mentally handicapped, and craniofacial syndromes.

Rate of canine retraction

时间窗: 4 weeks, 8 weeks and 12 weeks

次要结局

  • canine rotation, tipping of canine(3 months)
