Patients of both sexes; should have completed periodontal therapy related to the cause more than a month ago and still have sites with 2 or more adjacent teeth presenting pockets with a probing depth greater than or equal to 5 mm; with bleeding on probing and/or suppuration; and also good standards of oral hygiene (plaque index (PI) = 25% and bleeding on probing index (IBP) = 20%)
Patients should not have systemic conditions that could interfere with post-surgical repair, such as diabetes; they should not use medications that affect the gums and/or oral mucosa (phenytoin and other antiepileptic agents; cyclosporine; calcium channel blocking agents); they could not be smokers; pregnant or breastfeeding patients; patients who had a history of allergy to any of the components to be used in the present study
