- To compare the efficacy of ketamine soaked vs saline soaked throat pack in attenuation of incidence and severity of post-operative sore throat in patients after nasal surgeries.

简要总结
This is a randomized, parallel-group, placebo-controlled trial comparing ketamine-soaked throat packs with saline-soaked packs in reducing post-operative sore throat (POST) in patients undergoing elective nasal surgeries under general anaesthesia. 116 ASA I–II patients aged 18–65 will be randomized into two groups. POST severity will be assessed at 0h, 1h, 2h, 4h and 24h using a 4-point scale. Post-extubation cough will also be evaluated. The study aims to assess the topical analgesic effect of ketamine in reducing sore throat and improving post-operative comfort.

入选标准
- •Patients with American Society of Anaesthesiologists (ASA) grades of I and II.
- •Patients undergoing elective nasal surgery under general anaesthesia requiring endotracheal intubation.
- •Patients with Mallampatti Grades of I and II.
排除标准
- •Patients with a history of drug allergy to any of the studied drugs
- •Patients with difficulty in communication and pregnancy
- •Patients who required more than three attempts for tracheal intubation.
- •Patients with history of recent respiratory tract infection or sore throat anticipated difficult airway
- •Patients who are smokers.
- •Patients with pre-operative use of opioids and steroids.
