Immediate effect of Thoracic Mobility Exercise v/s Muscle Energy Technique on neck pain and cervical range of motion in patients with Non Specific Neck Pain- An Experimental Study.

Approval is obtained from the Institutional ethics committee. Participants will be screened according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria and a written informed consent will be obtained in the language best understood by them. The subjects will be randomly allocated to group A or group B by using the SNOSE method. Pre-treatment assesment will be done using Numerical Pain Rating Scale for neck pain and Universal Goniometer for cervical range of motion including cervical flexion, extension, right and left lateral flexion, right and left rotation. Group A will receive Thoracic mobility exercises including thoracic flexion, extension, bilateral side flexion and bilateral rotation. Group B will receive Muscle Energy Technique for bilateral upper trapezius and levator scapulae. Both groups will also receive standard physiotherapy protocol. Immediate post treatment assessment of neck pain using Numerical Pain Rating Scale and cervical range of motion using universal goniometer will be done and the values will be noted. The values obtained will be statistically analyzed and the results will be generated. Normality of numerical data will be checked using Shapiro Wilk test. If data passes normality, intra-group analysis will be done using Paired t test and inter-group analysis will be done using Unpaired t test. If the data does not pass normality, intra-group analysis will be done using Wilcoxon signed rank test and inter-group analysis will be done using Mann Whitney test. Keeping alpha error at 5% and Beta error at 20 %, power at 80%, p<0.05 will be considered statistically significant. Statistical Analysis will be done and results will be obtained.

- •Patients with Non Specific Neck pain having NPRS score of 3-7 2) Patients having sub-acute neck pain 3) Patients willing to participate in the study.
排除标准
- •Any pathological condition affecting the cervical or thoracic spine 2) Diagnosed cervical or thoracic spinal disc herniation 3) Diagnosed cervical or thoracic spinal stenosis 4) Orthopedic diseases of the shoulder 5) Neurological symptoms in the upper limbs 6) Patients with history of cervical spine, thoracic spine or shoulder surgery.
- •Patients not able to perform thoracic mobility exercises due to any reason.
