简要总结

The COVID-19 outbreak resulted in a decrease of up to 15% in maxillofacial fractures. Males were more affected than females, with slightly higher mean ages during the COVID-19 period. Traffic accidents remained the primary cause of maxillofacial injuries in Thailand, while assault-related injuries decreased significantly. During the COVID-19 period, there was a decrease in body assault-related orbital fractures but an increase in isolated zygomatic arch bone and panfacial fractures caused by assault.

入选标准

  • (1) those who sought evaluation at the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery during the specified periods, (2) patients diagnosed with maxillofacial fractures coded as S02.0 through S02.9 according to the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Edition (ICD-10). In cases of Panfacial fracture, it was defined as having more than 2 out of 3 facial bones broken when dividing the facial bones into upper third, middle third, and lower third, and (3) patients whose maxillofacial fractures were confirmed through imaging.

排除标准

  • 1) cases where facial fractures were either undocumented or unclear, 2) fractures of the vault and base of the skull (ICD-10 codes S020 to S021), and 3) cases with inadequate or unclear imaging.
