•1) American Society of Anaesthesiologist (ASA) physical status I and II patients of either gender.
•2) Patients posted for elective non-instrumentation lumbar surgeries lasting not more than 3 hours.
•3)Aged between 20 to 65 years

•1.Patient refusal for regional anaesthesia
•2.Patients in whom regional anaesthesia is contraindicated
•3.Any known allergy to any of the drugs
•4.BMI > 30kg/m2
•5.Infection at local site
•6.Patient on anti-coagulant therapy
•7.Inability to give informed consent
•8.Patient cannot operate PCA system
•9.Psychiatric disorders
•10.Patients with cardiac abnormalities (like IHD, severe aortic mitral valve disorders, heart failure, untreated HTN)
•11.Patients with history of long-term intake of corticosteroids
•12.Patients with history of intake of opioid analgesic edications 48 hour prior to surgery
•13.Loss to follow up
