A study to assess health seeking behavior and healthcare utilization among the tribal adults in Aalo, West Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh.

A community-based Cross-sectional study will beconducted from Dec 2022 – June 2023 in Seven randomly selected villages out of24 villages in Aalo, West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Based on theanticipated prevalence of 50%, 95% of the confidence interval, and 5% absoluteprecision, a sample size of 423 will be used for the study. A probabilityproportional to size (PPS) method will be used to select all 423samples(households) in 7 randomly selected villages as per population size ineach selected village of Aalo, West Siang district. tribal adults aged 18 yearsand above and willing to participate will be included in the study. After theidentification of the participants, written consent will be taken and recordedafter explaining the rationale and importance of the study. 7-10 Participantswill be purposively selected for an in-depth interview. The participants willbe asked Questions based on the prepared questionnaire. The data will becaptured into the Jamovi software 2.0 and then be displayed using graphs, anddescriptive statistics (frequency, percentage) and the Chi-square test will beapplied to find the association between variables.

The study will assess the pattern of health-seekingbehaviour and healthcare utilization in case of acute, chronic and emergencyconditions among the tribal adults in Aalo, Arunachal Pradesh and also providefurther insight into factors impacting health-seeking behaviour and practicesin terms of utilization and barriers to utilization to influence policy formulation,decision making and targeted service provision planning for the tribalpopulation of Aalo, Arunachal Pradesh.
