1.Consenting adult patients undergoing elective supratentorial tumour excision
2.Age 18-60yrs
3.ASA (American Society of Anaesthesiologists) class 1 and 2
4.GCS 15 prior to the surgery
1.Patient refusal
2.Age <18yrs, >60yrs
3.Patients with a difference of 10% or more in the baseline NIRS values between right and left
sides
4.Patients with clinical signs (headache, vomiting, confusion, papilloedema, pupillary
asymmetry) or radiological signs (midline shift >1cm, presence of hydrocephalus) of raised
intracranial pressure preoperatively
5.Patients with carotid artery disease
6.Long standing uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, systemic hypertension, cardiovascular disease,
COPD
7.Patients with previous history of stroke, transient ischemic attacks
8.Obesity
9.ASA class III, IV, V patients.
10.Patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage, vasospasm.
11.Pregnant & nursing mothers.
