Patients who required open reduction and plate fixation for the isolated lateral malleolar fracture will be included. Among the patients with rotational ankle fractures, those who are combined with a posterior malleolar fracture or a partial deltoid ligament rupture but only required open reduction and plate fixation for the lateral malleolar fracture will be also included.
(1) under 18 or over 65 years of age, (2) history of previous surgery at the ankle joint, (3) significant medical comorbidity that could potentially affect wound healing (e.g., end-stage renal failure, peripheral vascular disease), (4) history of keloid formation, open fracture, or other notable skin injuries around the ankle joint combined with fracture.

Name Time Method Hollander Wound Evaluation Scale (HWES)
