Primary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
The evaluation of the noise impact is based on questionnaires, which are sent via mail to selected areas in Cologne and vicinity. The survey will take place from mid-April to July 2018. To relate the questionnaire data to the noise exposure in situ, precise noise calculations for the participating addresses are generated by Soundplan. The empirical questionnaire and traffic noise data are used to estimate direction as well as strength of the relationships by structural equation analysis and to compare these relationships with the a priori designed and theoretically based model. Thereby, three structural equation models are calculated with the dominant (road traffic or aircraft noise) and the combined noise effect. The purpose of the study is to achieve more than 78 % variance explanation in long-term noise annoyance.
Secondary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
Furthermore exposure-response curves for the noise exposure and long-term annoyance are derived. Therefore, the exposure due to the dominant noise source (road traffic or aircraft noise) and the combination of both is taking into account.
