Inclusion Criteria

  • Adult patients (aged from 18 years old) presented in the hospital with an acute sore throat for less than 4 days were enrolled. The patients with a pain score greater than 5 out of 10 and a diagnosis of acute pharyngitis confirmed by an otolaryngologist were included in the study.

Exclusion Criteria

  • The exclusion criteria were positive COVID-19 test, history of allergy, intolerance, or sensitivity to any of the study medications, pregnant or lactating women, and patients who had taken antibiotics or corticosteroid less than 14 days prior.
