Patients with generalized moderate to severe chronic periodontitis,
Patients in age group of 30 - 65 years of either sex,
Patients with at least 20 natural teeth,
Patient ready to give written informed consent.
Medically compromised patients.
Patients on antibiotic or antimicrobial therapy in the past 6 months.
Smokers and smokeless tobacco users.
Patients who have received periodontal treatment in the past 6 months.
Pregnant women and lactating mothers.
Patients allergic to any material used in study.

Name Time Method Primary objective: To evaluate effects of the Triphala combined systemically and as mouthwash in conjugation with scaling and root planing therapy on clinical parameters like Plaque index, Gingival index, Probing Pocket Depth and Clinical Attachment Level. <br/ ><br>Timepoint: plaque index and gingival index at 1-week and 1- month <br/ ><br>probing pocket depth and clinical attachment level at 1-month
