- Brief Summary
Treatment with strong opioids was not superior to treatment with mild opioid medications for treatment of pain in surgically managed orthopaedic fracture patients sub-acutely. Results do not support ongoing strong opioid use following discharge from hospital. Further research to assess suitability of non-opioid treatments and larger multi-centre trials may be warranted.
