Inclusion Criteria

Clinical and radiological diagnosis of acute ischemic stroke
- Time between symptom onset or last asymptomatic contact and hospital admission <24h

Exclusion Criteria

- Malignant disease
- Pre-existing disease of the central nervous system
- NIHSS>20 points
- Age >90 years
