简要总结

Netra is considered as Pradhana Indriya in Ayurveda and vision plays a crucial role in daily life. Timira is described as a Drishtigata Roga characterized by gradual diminution of vision which may lead to blindness. The severity of visual impairment depends on the involvement of Patala and Dosha Sthanasamshraya. Diabetes mellitus is a common non communicable disease and diabetic retinopathy is one of its major microvascular complications and a leading cause of vision loss worldwide. The risk of diabetic retinopathy increases with the duration of diabetes especially after puberty

Though classical texts do not directly mention Timira as an Upadrava of Prameha in Brihatrayis it is indicated that vital organs including the eye are involved in Prameha Samprapti. Prameha and Timira share common etiological factors such as Guru Snigdha Vidahi Ahara and Divaswapna leading to increased Kleda and Abhishyanda of Rupavaha Srotas resulting in Timira. Hence diabetic retinopathy can be understood in Ayurveda as Timira associated with Prameha

Modern treatment options like anti VEGF therapy laser photocoagulation and vitrectomy are effective but costly. Ayurveda offers cost effective treatment options through Kriya Kalpa procedures. Anjana Chikitsa is described to improve clarity of vision and has shown beneficial effects in diabetic retinopathy

Therefore the present study is undertaken to evaluate the effect of Chandanadya Varti Anjana in patients with Non Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy with Katakakhadiradi Kashaya given as a common intervention in both groups
