Clinically, a fresh case of VE is defined as a person between the age of 6 months-18 Years,
- acute onset of fever of <= 15 days
- change in mental status (including symptoms such as confusion, disorientation, coma, or inability to talk)
-AND/OR new onset of seizures with clear colour, normal to raised protein, normal sugar and pleocytosis with mononuclear dominance cell in CSF of children
-Informed consent
-Simple febrile convulsion (single convulsion lasting 15 min who recovered consciousness within 60 min).
-A firm diagnosis of tuberculous or bacterial meningitis based on examination of CSF specimen or imaging findings.
-All types of encephalopathy (hepatic, enteric, uraemic, septic, toxic) cerebral malaria or neurocysticercosis.
-Acute Disseminated encephalo Myelopathy.
-Age less than 6 months and above 18 years
-Any pre-existing known major illnesses
